March 1, 2016

Dear Family,
That's NUTS that Ty is engaged!! Man I called the marriage in 6 months from getting home from the mish and I think that was prophecy! It's crazy what happens when you're gone for two years!
This week was pretty good. We weren’t able to teach as many investigators as we had been the past couple weeks, because we had almost all of our investigators cancel and move their appointments to this next week. We did find a new investigator though! His name is Norman. He was referred to us by some sister missionaries in our zone, who said that he was high when they talked to him, and we had contacted him last week and he told us that we could come by on Saturday. So we went by this week and he answered the door, and he was high as a kite. He said “Come on in guys I’m just cleaning my guns.” Haha so we went in and he had a shotgun and a pistol just sitting there and a giant bowl of marijuana right next to him! We ended up teaching him briefly about the Restoration and talked a little bit about what he believes and stuff. He wasn’t focused obviously and at the end of the lesson he was like “You know guys I’m super high right now, and I don’t even really know what I’m talking about so…” then we asked him if we could come back when he wasn’t high so we could actually teach him, and he said yes! Haha so we are going to see him again this Saturday!
We got another investigator out in Cuba! We went out there yesterday and taught him. His name is Leon Charley and he is awesome! We got to where we were meeting him and we were able to teach him the Restoration and get to know him a little bit better. He has a Christian background and he loves Christ and wants to get close to him in his life. We talked about our message and after we talked about the apostasy and the Restoration he was like “So it’s like a puzzle, other people have pieces of the puzzle but you guys have the whole puzzle because of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon!” And we were like yeah and then he said “That’s what I want, and that’s what I am looking for!” It was sweet! At the end of the lesson we invited him to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and he asked if we could pray right there haha! And so we did and he said a sweet prayer and in it he asked if the Book of Mormon was true! After that we invited him to baptism and he said that when he learns more he will be baptized! So that was legit!
Other than that we had some good tracting this week, and the weather has been warming up so that’s been awesome! We also got out the bikes this week and it was Elder Olsen’s third time riding a bike in his life! So he had to practice a little but he got the hang of it after a while! Anyways, I love and miss all of you and hope everything is going well! Keep doing what’s right! Talk to you later!

Love Elder Summerhays
